My focus is storytelling in its many forms. I’m passionate about advocating for reproductive rights, racial justice, and free comprehensive sex education. My artistic practice centers on educating in order to encourage political action and mutual aid.
I’m compelled to work on my personal growth and liberation in order to help others do the same.
My mission as an artist is to tell stories that unite people. Stories about my own identity as a mixed Iranian American and German Jewish woman, about femininity in all its forms, about those whose voices are muffled or written out of the narrative, about history and our current world, about human connection and much, much more. I feel that by telling these stories, we are brought together in the most powerful way and are better aligned to make lasting change that benefits all of us.
My favorite thing to do is build the community of a rehearsal room, and my second favorite thing to do is make an audience feel smart. I do not make art exclusively about the trans experience, but deliberately feature transness in a wide range of theatre about the human experience.
